Dear school community,
Welcome to the end of term 3; where has the year gone? This month’s meeting highlighted progress across the school, including the completion of our new Strategic Plan, coming facilities improvements, student leadership opportunities, first nations engagement and continued education benefitting savings via the solar project.
🚀 School Strategic Plan 2027-2031 – finalised
I am pleased to report that MAC’s new School Strategic Plan has now been finalised. The plan provides clear direction for the next four years, focusing on further improving learning outcomes, strengthening student wellbeing and inclusion, increasing student voice and agency, and ensuring consistent, evidence-informed teaching practices that can support success for all students. 🍳 “Master Chef” kitchen – grant application
Unfortunately, still no news to share & we’re now expecting a late September update; keep your fingers crossed.
🗺️ Marrung Report – reflection from the Kimberleys
The Kimberley Cultural Pathways Program (KCPP) provides students with a unique 18-day on‑Country experience from Indigenous Elders and aims to strengthen cultural understanding, truth‑telling, identity and student leadership in reconciliation. MAC student Brodie (year 10) attended this year’s KCPP and School Council was pleased to hear about his end‑of‑trip student reflection. It highlighted Brodie’s learning about ancient Kimberley, Dreaming stories, kinship, country‑based knowledge and the impacts of colonisation. He describes now being more aware, empathetic and confident, and having a stronger respect for First Nations culture. Brodie’s learnings and experience will be shared with the wider community and incorporated into the MAC’s Marrung activities.
⚽ School Grounds – goals to be kicked!
Completion of the new Futsal court during the upcoming holidays will provide students with an exciting new space for sport, recreation and physical activity in term 4.
🌞 Solar PV project – savings to date!
By the end of August, the school’s solar project has achieved more than $22,700 (ex-gst) in electricity bill savings compared with the same time last year. By spending less on electricity, MAC now has more money to spend on improving education outcomes for all students.
For more information about School Council, visit the school’s website. The next meeting will be held on the evening of November 10th, 2026. Community attendance as guest observers is welcome; please let the school know in advance if you’d like to attend.
Thank you to families, students and staff for your ongoing support and engagement with School Council.
Yours sincerely,
Peter Hormann – School Council President 2026
