Entry Orientation

For Important Dates and Events for Entry students, click here.

It is with great pleasure that we have confirmed that state-wide orientation will occur onsite on Tuesday, December 10, 2024.

The day will run similarly to a school day and will provide students with a feel for their secondary school experience. Students are to meet at the Gym for activities to commence promptly at 9am. Students will be dismissed from the Gym at 3:20pm.

Students should attend in their primary school uniform and will be required to bring their own lunch, a water bottle (named), comfortable shoes, a pen and a small bag to keep these items with them throughout the day as there is minimal storage.

Students should not bring devices as they will not be required on the day. Students are encouraged not to bring mobile phones but if they are required, can be placed in secure storage on the day.

We look forward to meeting our 2025 cohort in person!

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the General Office via email at transition@mountalexandercollege.vic.edu.au

Senior School

All students are guided through their decision making about VCE or VCAL. The yearly counselling with the students looks at what will be the best outcome for success for the individual.

Students are encouraged to follow the best pathways for their needs e.g. three year senior school plan, dual enrolment in a VET and VCE, unscored VCE pathway, scored VCE pathway or VCAL. We believe it is important to tailor the senior years to give all our students the best chance of success and look after their wellbeing.

Please refer to the Student Subject Handbook for more information about our courses on offer.

Alternative Entry Pathway Programs

Students in the seniors years at the school can apply to participate in the Alternative Entry Program. The program provides suitable applicants with a guaranteed pathway to university with no ATAR.

Extension Programs

Extension programs at tertiary institutions are designed for high-achieving year 12 students who are looking for an academic challenge. Programs allow students to complete university studies alongside their final year of secondary schooling.

VET

Mount Alexander College is a member of the Inner Melbourne VET Cluster. The IMVC is a unique partnership of 50 schools located in the inner Melbourne region, who have formed a collegial association to build the connection between academic learning and vocational training. The IMVC provides a central service to ensure quality management of programs.

Students can undertake a VET as part of the VCE and VCAL programs.

Please see Assistant Principal Miss Rawlins or Careers Advisor Alison Lovett for further information.
